This homeowner in Chicopee, MA called us looking to finish his basement. He wanted to completely finish it, including a full bathroom, playroom, and a wet bar. Our Home Comfort Specialist came out to his home to evaluate the basement. When he got there, he noted that the basement was insulated using inefficient fiberglass batts. This caused drafts and high energy bills. The basement needed the insulation replaced before it could be finished, as it would be much harder to do this after it was finished.
We had the perfect solution for this customer! We utilized two-part expanding spray foam. We insulated the rim joist (the perimeter of the floor framing system along the exterior of the home). We spray this foam in the rim joist and over the sill plate. Insulating the rim joist in this way seals all air leaks -- filling in the cracks and gaps that are present there. This prevents outside air from getting into the home. The homeowner is now very happy, and he can now work toward finishing his basement!
This homeowner in Chicopee, MA called us looking for insulation for her basement ceiling. She had lived in the home since it was built in the 1960s, and knew that it needed new insulation. The previous insulation -- fiberglass in her rim joist -- was simply not working anymore. Our Home Comfort Specialist came out to the home and recommended insulating the rim joist.

This homeowner in Chicopee, MA called us hoping to get more insulation due to his high energy costs. He also had family members living in the basement that he suspected was poorly insulated. When our Home Comfort Specialist arrived at the home, she noticed that the basement had no insulation in it. This explains the fact that the floors upstairs would be very warm or very cold, depending on the season.
We were able to help this customer out by insulating his basement. We specifically insulated the rim joist. That is the perimeter of the floor framing system along the exterior of the house. We sprayed this rim joist with two-part expanding spray foam. This seals all air leaks in the rim joist from the outside and insulates this area of the home. It seals all of the cracks, gaps, and joints where air from the outside was entering the home.
Now, this home will be temperature controlled and safe for years to come!
This homeowner in South Hadley, MA had called and complained about having cold floors. One of the things we always look out for is the rim joist in the basement. In this case, like most other homes, the rim joist was not insulated. It was letting in cold and dry air in in the winter and hot humid air in in the summer.
To fix this problem we have to First remove any old fiberglass batting. Then we spray our 2 part expanding spray foam to seal up all gaps and penetrations. Now we have stop the convection and conduction loss that was causing this homeowner problems.

This homeowner in South Hadley, MA called us out to their home to remove and replace their old insulation. This home had very old, fiberglass insulation in their attic. Fiberglass insulation is very fluffy and allows air to easily seep through, and exit or enter the home. The attic is always the first priority in regards to insulation.
First we needed to remove all of the old, nasty fiberglass insulation. We remove, bag up, and properly dispose of the old insulation. We do our air sealing before we install new insulation. This is because without air sealing you are not properly sealing the home up. We air seal all of the top plates with one-part fire retardant foam. Now we can insulate! We blow in our TruSoft cellulose insulation, this fills all of the gaps, cracks, and odd shaped voids in the attic.
This will result in a more comfortable, and energy efficient home, thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions!
