Insulating a Basement in a Condo in Hatfield, MA

This condo owner called us hoping that we would be able to help him. His condo association was looking into different insulation specialists due to an issue they had, and we had been referred from a friend. They were interested in replacing the insulation in their shared basement. They had fiberglass insulation, which was falling down, and they were having issues with mold in this basement as well. The fiberglass needed to be removed, the mold needed to be remediated, and then the condo association wanted new insulation put up.

We were able to insulate this basement using two separate solutions. These solutions combined gave them a very insulated condo complex, but also, they had the benefit of sound dampening as well. Our first solution was using two part spray foam in the rim joist. (The rim joist is the perimeter of the floor framing system along the exterior of the house.) This spray foam expands and fills all cracks and gaps in the rim joist and over the sill plate. Then, we installed RockWool batts on the ceiling of the basement. RockWool is amazing -- made of volcanic rock, it is fire resistant and sound dampening. The condo owners will no longer have an issue with hearing their neighbors in the basement, and they will be much more comfortable in their homes!

Properly Insulating Attic in Middletown, CT

A customer in Middletown, CT called us in order to ensure that his attic was properly insulated. Our Home Comfort Specialist identified several places in this home that needed sealing and proper insulation. Our team used ZypFoam™ in order to properly seal the attic. We then used loosely blown TruSoft™ cellulose insulation on the attic floor and densely packed it into the exterior walls of the home. This ensures a more comfortable home. This customer will now have reduced energy loss year round!

Sealing off Crawl Space Access Door In Agawam, MA

The team sealed off the Crawl Space Access door because of loss of energy in home. With the door shut heat will not escape in the winter and cold air wild not escape in the summer.

Spray Foam on Rim Joists

Used spray foam on rim joists to seal up areas where energy was being lost.

Insulating a Basement in Agawam, MA

This homeowner in Agawam, MA called us hoping that we would be able to help her with her cold home. Specifically, the bathroom in her home was colder than the rest of the house. When our Home Comfort Specialist arrived in the home, he took a look at the area of the basement directly under the bathroom. The insulation in that part of the basement was fiberglass batts that were put into between the beams in the basement ceiling. Unfortunately, fiberglass does not stop airflow, which was causing the cold room problems.

We were able to help this homeowner with her home! We re-insulated this basement with two-part expanding spray foam. We started by removing all of the old fiberglass insulation. After that was all removed, we began applying two part spray foam to the rim joist and over the sill plate. Spray foam expands, filling all cracks and gaps and preventing air flow up from the basement into the main living space. Now, their home (and especially their bathroom) is much more comfortable!
