This East Longmeadow, MA customer reached out to Fogarty's Home Services to have a part of her basement finished for additional living space in her home. Before we can finish walls in a basement, we must properly insulate them. Poured concrete basement walls are are perpetually cold - about 17°F cooler than we like the interior of our homes to be. The dense concrete has a lot of mass and heat from the basement constantly flows into and through the wall by conduction and they can never be heated up. Fogarty's Home Services fixed this problem by installing our Foamax™ insulation board on the basement walls. The Foamax™ polyiso board has a foil facing to reflect heat so the insulation isn't doing all the work by itself. Now our happy homeowner will have a warmer, more comfortable basement, warmer floors above the basement, less condensation in the summertime, and lower energy bills. In addition, her walls are now prepped for basement finishing.
This homeowner in East Longmeadow, MA approached us at a home show hoping we would be able to help him with his home. He had been looking for the right company to handle his basement water issues. He wanted to have a sump pump and a perimeter drainage system installed, as well as possibly finish his basement at a later date.
We had the perfect solution for this customer. We installed a SuperSump® sump pump system into the basement. It features a sturdy liner, airtight lid, 1/3 hp cast iron pump which can discharge up to 2200 gallons per hour, 8 feet high, and a stand to keep the pump out of silt and sediment. A WaterWatch® Alarm System alerts the homeowner to pump failure before the basement floor gets wet. We also installed a perimeter drainage system that connects to the pump. The homeowner is very excited to have a new waterproofing system for his home!
This homeowner in East Longmeadow, MA called us initially asking about mold in her basement. Her child lives in the basement, and she was concerned that the child was exposed to mold. There was a musty odor and high humidity. When our Home Comfort Specialist came out to the home, he identified the source of her concerns.
We had the perfect solution for this customer! We utilized two-part expanding spray foam. We insulated the rim joist (the perimeter of the floor framing system along the exterior of the home). We spray this foam in the rim joist and over the sill plate. Insulating the rim joist in this way seals all air leaks -- filling in the cracks and gaps that are present there. This prevents outside air from getting into the home. The homeowner is now very happy, and she is much more comfortable in her home!
This homeowner in East Longmeadow, MA reached out to us because she wanted to replace her front door. She had a very old home, and the door had not been replaced in decades. When our Home Comfort Specialist came out to the home, he discussed other home comfort problems they were experiencing. They had been experiencing drafts, and they were hopeful that that could be remedied. Our Home Comfort Specialist went down to the crawl space in the home and found that it was not encapsulated, and it had inefficient insulation that was starting to fall down.
We were able to help this customer! One of the solutions we utilized was our CleanSpace™ crawl space encapsulation system. We first insulated the walls using our SilverGlo™ foam insulation. For the floor, we added a dimpled drainage mat to create a thermal break. We then installed TerraBlock™ floor insulation on top of that. Then, we installed a CleanSpace™ crawl space encapsulation liner over that insulation. We fastened it into both the walls and floor to create a permanent solution for this crawl space. We then added two-part expanding spray foam to the rim joist to ensure that the crawl space was covered. Combined with our other solutions, this homeowner will experience less drafts, warmer floors, lower energy bills, and a much more comfortable home!
