This customer in Wilbraham, MA called us when he realized he needed new insulation in his basement. After a very detailed evaluation with our Home Comfort Specialist, they decided that using spray foam in the rim joist would be the best option.
This homeowner already had fiberglass batts in the rim joist. Fiberglass is a notoriously bad insulation. It's prone to falling down or sagging, letting air leak in, and being comfortable as bedding for pests such as rodents.
We immediately removed the fiberglass insulation from the rim joist. We then went back in with two part expanding spray foam, installed on the rim joist and the sill plate. This goes into every crack, gap, and joint to make sure that there are no air leaks.
An interior wall was exposed to a hot/cold attic so Fogarty's Home Services insulated the exposed wall with SilverGlo and expanded polystyrene foam insulation board with graphite infused in the foam.
This homeowner in Somers, CT called us hoping to talk about the results of his energy audit. The audit had mentioned that he needed comprehensive insulation in his home. His attic, basement, and crawl space all had issues. He wanted it insulated properly before he got his basement finished.
We were able to help this customer! One of the solutions we utilized was our CleanSpace™ crawl space encapsulation system. We first insulated the walls using our SilverGlo™ foam insulation. For the floor, we added a dimpled drainage mat to create a thermal break. We then installed TerraBlock™ floor insulation on top of that. Then, we installed a CleanSpace™ crawl space encapsulation liner over that insulation. We fastened it into both the walls and floor to create a permanent solution for this crawl space. We then added two-part expanding spray foam to the rim joist to ensure that the crawl space was covered. Combined with our other solutions, this homeowner will experience less drafts, warmer floors, lower energy bills, and a much more comfortable home!
This homeowner in Somers, CT called us hoping to talk about his insulation. He had concerns about his attic due to some mold that was found there. He had high humidity in the attic and basement. His home was also very uncomfortable and he had a dust issue in the home that he could not find a cause for.
We had the perfect solution for this customer. We were able to replace the attic insulation with TruSoft™ cellulose insulation. We started by removing the batt insulation, putting it in large bags. We then went in and air-sealed around all of the points where air leaks up from the home to the attic. We did this using our Zypfoam™ spray foam. Once the attic was air sealed, we used a long hose to blow in TruSoft™ cellulose insulation. TruSoft™ is amazing -- it does not burn, get moldy, or attract pests. The blown-in insulation fills all gaps and oddly shaped voids. The homeowner is now much more comfortable in his home!
This homeowner in Marlborough, CT called us hoping that we would be able to help her with her basement. She had issues with her home, specifically, she had musty smells and cold floors.
This basement had no insulation. Therefore, the customer was hoping for insulation in the rim joist. The rim joist is the perimeter of the floor framing system along the exterior of the house.
Luckily, we had the perfect solution for this customer. We insulated the basement with two-part closed cell spray foam. This spray foam expands and fills all cracks and gaps in the rim joist and over the sill plate. Now, this home will be much more comfortable, and there are no more air leaks in the basement!
