This homeowner in West Stockbridge, MA reached out to us about his basement insulation. The fiberglass insulation he had was described by the homeowner as a "good home for mice", and he was concerned about it. He wanted to replace it with something more rigid. When our Home Comfort Specialist came out to the home, he discussed different options with the homeowner.

We had the perfect solution for this customer! In this solution, we utilize two-part expanding spray foam. Once we remove the old insulation, we insulate the rim joist (the perimeter of the floor framing system along the exterior of the home). We spray this foam in the rim joist and over the sill plate. Insulating the rim joist in this way seals all air leaks -- filling in the cracks and gaps that are present there. This prevents outside air from getting into the home. Now, this homeowner is much more comfortable in his home! 

This homeowner in Richmond, MA called us out to their home to see what we could do to make their home warmer during the cold seasons. This home has old, inefficient fiberglass insulation in the attic. This was not keeping the home warm in the winter, the air they paid to heat was easily escaping. 

We removed all of the old, nasty fiberglass insulation. Then, we go in and air seal penetrations, and all top plates. Next, we build our catwalk for storage. We use our SilverGlo foam insulation board with a wooded walkway made of plywood on top. Now we are ready to blow our insulation. We blow our TruSoft Cellulose insulation into the attic, making sure not to get any on our catwalk.

Now, Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver, this home will be warmer in the winter, cooler in the summer, and more energy efficient all year round!

This homeowner in Richmond, MA called us hoping that we would be able to help her with her crawl space. The insulation in her crawl space was starting to fall down. Luckily, she had previously worked with us on prior projects and knew that we would be able to help her.

We were able to help this homeowner by utilizing our CleanSpace™ encapsulation system. We insulated the crawl space walls using SilverGlo™ foam insulation. For the floor, we added a dimpled drainage mat to create a thermal break. We then installed TerraBlock™ floor insulation on top of that. Then, we installed a CleanSpace™ crawl space encapsulation liner over that insulation. We fastened it into both the walls and floor to create a permanent solution for this crawl space. Now, this homeowner will experience less drafts and a much more comfortable home! 

This customer contacted Fogarty's Home Services for help with her unfinished basement. She wanted to have our team create a nice, well-insulated "man cave" for her husband. The house had been recently purchased, and our customer wanted to ensure that her husband had a finished space to call his own. The insulation in the basement was in need of replacement. The walls themselves were not insulated at all, and were simply poured concrete. This made the basement very cold in the winter. In the summer, the warm and humid air created condensation on the walls, which caused mold in some of the insulation.

In order to ensure that the entire basement was sealed and protected, we installed Foamax™ boards around the entirety of the basement. These boards are installed with Dr. Energy Saver's proprietary Foam-Tite fasteners. We also sealed the rim joist with spray foam insulation.   The end result is lower energy bills and a warm, comfortable basement for the customer that is ready for transformation into that 'man cave'.

This homeowner reached out to us online to see if we could help him with his basement insulation. He specifically wanted the rim joist insulated. He had cold floors and wanted to make his home more comfortable. In a basement, the “rim joist” is the perimeter of the floor framing system along the exterior of the house. The joints and gaps between all the framing members allow for a lot of air leakage into the house. The rim joist is seldom insulated and never air sealed. Basement ceiling insulation, especially fiberglass batts, doesn’t stop the flow of cold air into the home. Results - cold floors, drafty, uncomfortable rooms, cold basement/lower level, higher heating and cooling bills and more condensation in the basement or crawl space in the summer.

We had the perfect solution for this customer. In this solution, we spray foam the rim joist in the basement in order to seal and insulate it. Two part expanding spray foam is installed on the rim joist and over the sill plate to seal all air leaks from the outside and insulate this important area of the home. Our spray foam has a high insulation value per inch of R7, and because it expands, it seals all cracks and gaps and joints where air from the outside enters the home. Results - warmer floors, less drafts, more comfortable rooms, the house is easier to heat and costs less to heat, less summertime condensation on cold basement surfaces.
