The owners of this home in Cheshire, MA were experiencing ice damming.  They also wanted their home to be more comfortable.  Stopping air leakage at the top of the house was a priority.  One of the solutions our team provided was to air seal all the can lights in the attic.  Can lights are holes in the ceiling which allow air to leak between the drywall and the fixture, and through the fixture itself.  Our team installed our TiteShell airtight, fireproof can light covers.  TiteShell covers are safe from the fire hazards of hot bulbs and fixtures.  After they are installed, insulation can be blown against them and over them.  

This homeowner in Cheshire, MA needed more space in her home. She was hoping to be able to utilize her basement in order to suit the needs of her family. Unfortunately, the existing windows in the basement were very small and inadequate for her family to use if they needed to have a different form of egress. Due to the fact that the basement was also essentially fully underground, there was no good spot to put the window. 

We were able to help this customer! We first had to identify a good spot to add in a window. It needed to be an accessible spot that was capable of having an egress window and cover. When a suitable spot was found, it was marked out. Then, it was excavated. The spots to cut were then measured out and marked, and the drywall was torn out. Then, we prepared and cut the foundation and installed framing for the window. We then installed our Sunrise window. After the window was put in, the Rockwell egress well was installed, and dirt and rocks were poured around it. Finally, the lid was attached, keeping water from getting into the window well. This homeowner is excited to have a secondary egress in her home so that her family can spread out more! 

This homeowner in Cheshire, MA reached out to us about her basement. She had several issues going on, and was not sure what she needed. However, she knew that she was uncomfortable in her home due to her insulation, and she knew her home was not energy efficient. She also had mold in her basement she wanted addressed. When our Home Comfort Specialist came out to the home, he noted that they had an older door at the bottom of their hatchway steps that was allowing outside air into the basement.

We had the perfect solution for this customer. In this solution, we installed an insulated exterior door. The proper framing is installed, followed by a new door with a locking knob. Result - warmer basement and floors over the basement, drier basement in summer, lower fuel and electric costs, less drafts, house easier to heat, more security.

Her basement was not insulated, and that was causing energy loss.

We had the perfect solution for this customer! In this solution, we utilize two-part expanding spray foam. Once we remove the old insulation, we insulate the rim joist (the perimeter of the floor framing system along the exterior of the home). We spray this foam in the rim joist and over the sill plate. Insulating the rim joist in this way seals all air leaks -- filling in the cracks and gaps that are present there. This prevents outside air from getting into the home. Now, this homeowner is much more comfortable in her home, and will have lower energy bills!
