This homeowner in Putnam, CT called us stating that he had a poorly insulated Cape-style home. The home had been built by a family member 70 years ago, and it had multiple problems that the homeowner was working to fix. He wanted to have his insulation replaced to increase the comfort of his home. The second floor of a Cape often suffers from inadequate insulation, and air leaks from the soffits into poorly insulated kneewall spaces. This results in cold drafty rooms in winter that are harder than necessary to heat, and hot rooms in the summer as roof heat radiates in unchecked. Kneewall spaces are dusty and too cold or hot - unsuitable for clean storage.

We had the perfect solution for this customer -- our Super Kneewall™ treatment. First, our SilverGlo™ foam insulation panels are installed on the bottom of the rafters in the kneewall spaces and the ceiling joist bays are blocked and sealed with foam to stop air leakage. Then the roof slopes are dense packed with TruSoft™ cellulose insulation to stop air flow and insulate. Finally, the flat ceiling is insulated with TruSoft™ cellulose insulation. Result - rooms are comfortable all year and need much less heat and air conditioning. Drafts are eliminated as kneewall spaces are airtight and clean and suitable for storage. Summer roof heat is far less.

This homeowner in Dayville, CT reached out to us about her basement insulation. She had fiberglass batts in the basement ceiling she wanted to replace with spray foam insulation. When our Home Comfort Specialist came out to the home, he did an evaluation of the basement and the connected crawl space. We were able to help this customer! One of the solutions we utilized was our CleanSpace™ crawl space encapsulation system. We first insulated the walls using our SilverGlo™ foam insulation. For the floor, we added a dimpled drainage mat to create a thermal break. We then installed TerraBlock™ floor insulation on top of that. Then, we installed a CleanSpace™ crawl space encapsulation liner over that insulation. We fastened it into both the walls and floor to create a permanent solution for this crawl space. We then added two-part expanding spray foam to the rim joist to ensure that the crawl space was covered. Combined with our other solutions, this homeowner will experience less drafts, warmer floors, lower energy bills, and a much more comfortable home! 

This homeowner in Webster, MA reached out to us due to drafts in his home. When our Home Comfort Specialist came out to the home, he found that it was very humid in the crawl space, and they had a water issue. Their old sump pumps were not keeping up with the water. 

In order to help this customer, we needed to install a sump pump and perimeter drainage system. We used our TripleSafe™ sump pump alongside our WaterGuard™ perimeter drainage system. This sump pump features three pumps! The first pump is a 1/3 hp, cast iron Zoeller pump that can pump up to 2200 gallons per hour, 8 feet high. Should the first pump fail or not be able to keep up with the temporary heavy flow of water, a 1/2 hp AC back-up pump on a separate discharge line can pump 3900 gallons of water per hour. If the power fails, then a third, battery operated "UltraSump" pump automatically pumps up to 12,000 gallons of water out of the basement. Now, the homeowners will have peace of mind, knowing that they have three pumps keeping their basement dry!
