This homeowner in Salem, CT called us out to their home for a Home Energy Evaluation. During our Attic walkthrough portion of the visit we noticed they had old, nasty fiberglass insulation and mold in their attic! Mold in your attic is not normal, and it is for sure not healthy. It means there is another problem in your home that is causing relative humidity in your home to go above 75% so mold can grow on wood and insulation. We can treat the home and prevent more mold from growing, but can we eliminate the mold that is already there? YES we can!

We use our Mold-X Neutralizer which kills all mold spores and stops the future growth. We spray this in the attic and make sure it reached all nooks and crannies where mold may grow. the mold is still visible, but it is dead. Next we use out Mold-X botanical to clean the mold stains off of any surface. 

In the photo you can see the black mold, and old insulation, in the after photo you can see old insulation is removed, and we have started out air sealing and insulation process as well.

These homeowners in Lebanon, CT were worried about their pipes freezing. If the basement and crawlspace are not sealed and insulated, heat coming off of the furnace or boiler is lost through leaks as well as by conduction through block walls.

To start, we sealed the rim joist with spray foam and addressed any air leaks. We then secured our SilverGlo foam to the walls to prevent any more loss of heat. SilverGlo is infused with graphite and has a reflective radiant barrier to keep in heat in the winter. For the portion of the home that was crawlspace, we made sure to address the dirt floor under that old tarp which we removed. We put down a dimpled matting to keep an air break, then TerraBlock floor insulation, and finally our vapor barrier to keep any moisture from getting up into the home.

This homeowner in Lebanon, CT called us hoping to be able to help him with her home. She had tested her home's radon levels several times, and the tests all came out to 15 to 18 pCi/L. This is considered very high -- much higher than the EPA's recommended Radon Action Level of 4 pCi/L. She wanted her radon exposure lowered as soon as possible. 

We were able to help this customer. We installed a passive radon mitigation system in her home. Once the ideal space for the system was located, our radon mitigation technician was able to install it. He first started by drilling a hole into the concrete slab in the basement. Once the core had been removed, the radon technician installed a pipe and secured it. He also installed a manometer - which measures the pressure of the radon in the system. This is the indicator of whether or not the radon system is functioning correctly. He then drilled a hole for the exterior penetration and installed pipes for that as well. He then went to the outside of the home, installing the fan. The technician then sealed all cracks, gaps, and around the holes drilled for the system. After a quick test of the system, our radon technician was done and the homeowner was happy! Now she has a brand new mitigation system that will keep her radon levels low and her family more safe.

Cathedral ceiling was dramatically uninsulated. Fogarty's Home Services removed the ridge vent and inserted a long fill tube to reach the bottom of the ceiling plane, and "dense packed" into each rafter bay filling all air spaces. After Completion of insulation We installed hip and ridge cap shingles and a Tribuilt Omni Ridge pro - ridge vent to finish the job.
