What is Foamax : Basement Wall Insulation?

Foamax is Dr Energy Saver’s exclusive brand of basement wall insulation.

It is a Polyisocyanurate foam board installed on your basement walls with an extremely high insulation value (or R-Value).  It reduces condensation for exceptional moisture protection. It is also one of the only fire rated foam insulation boards that can be installed in an unfinished basement and it has a white foil face for a great appearance!

Why would you need Foamax installed in your home?

Concrete walls are cold and dense all year round. We know that heat always moves from more to less (conduction). With its thermal mass, the concrete walls are constantly absorbing heat from your basement, and the heat escapes the home!  This makes your basement cold and uncomfortable in the cold months!

Other reasons your basement may be cold are leaky and inefficient basement windows and doors, as well as having little to no insulation along the perimeter of your basement on the rim joist. Fiberglass insulation is not efficient enough to keep your basement warm. Our Building Science Specialists are trained and certified to help you find the solutions specific to your home!

Let's compare two basements, one with Foamax wall insulation, and spray foam insulation along the rim joist.

Home with Efficient insulation

Home with little to no efficient insulation

-outside wall temp is close to the outside temp (little to no heat is being absorbed and leaking through walls)

-15 ° warmer from the outside(more heat is being absorbed and escaping through walls)

-77° inside on a 22° day

-55° on a 22° day

-comfortable temperature year round

-cold and damp all winter long
