The homeowner mentioned how cold it was inside their home in the winter and how hot it was inside the home during the summer. They told us that they had old insulation in their attic and no insulation around their HVAC/duct system.
We sent our Building Science Specialist to the home for a Free Home Energy Evaluation to evaluate the home and the homeowners concerns. We sat down with them to go over their concerns again and to see how the house was operating. Then, we did our walk through in the home. We noticed that they did have old insulation in their attic that was inefficient. They also did not have their duct work insulated. This can be a huge issue because the air that you are paying to heat and cool your home will not come out at the temperature it should due to the extreme environment in an attic. There are a lot of gaps and cracks in duct-work, leaving space for heat and air conditioning to escape. This explains why it was way too hot in the summer in this home, and way too cold in the winter!
We proposed our services to them, and they decided to move forward with new efficient insulation in the attic and around the duct-work! All of the old insulation is removed, and we begin to air seal around the duct-work with our Silver-Glo foam insulation boards. Then we spray our Spray Foam insulation around the duct work to completely seal it. This will make the air delivered to the rooms in the home cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter, as well as lower energy bills! Then we create an insulated catwalk for storage and to be able to access your duct-work! Next, we blow our TruSoft Cellulose insulation into the attic. Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver this home is more comfortable, has more even temperatures, and energy efficient!
