Air Sealing and Insulating A Basement in Dudley, MA

Problem:

This homeowner called us because he had damage to his basement caused by a boiler leak and he needed the damage fixed.

Solution:

Our Building Science Specialist evaluated the damage to the basement caused by the boiler and decided that the best thing to do was to start by using spray foam to air seal and insulate the Rim Joist. The next thing to do was to finish exposed walls that existed at the basement stair tower. We would use our Total Basement Finishing wall system to finish off the area and finish the job.

Insulating a Stone Wall Basement in Dudley, MA

Problem:

This homeowner called us because his basement was very drafty because the walls were made of stone and air was coming in through the unsealed cracks and then up into the house above.

Solution:

Our Building Science Specialist explained to the homeowner that the basement would be best suited by being insulated with closed-cell spray foam. We let the homeowners know to vacate the premises for 24 hrs (pets too) to leave time for proper ventilation for any "Off Gassing". We then go in and spray two-part, expanding, closed-cell, polyurethane foam insulation an average of 1 1/2" thick, from the concrete floor all the way up to the sub-floor. No more leaks! Resulting in a much warmer basement, floors above the basement and overall warmer home and lower energy bills!

Our Building Science Specialist carefully evaluated the damaged areas and came to the conclusion that the damage could be fixed by air sealing the Rim Joists with Spray foam insulation.
